2018 Donations Fund Giant Miracles for Kids Treated at CMN Hospitals
GIANT Food Stores has long been passionate about supporting children’s health.
During 2018, the company’s 95th anniversary year, with the help of their customers throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland, GIANT raised more than $3 million to help sick and injured kids in seven Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Young patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Penn State Children’s Hospital, Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Children’s National Health System, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and University of Virginia Children’s Hospital have access to special equipment, new treatment facilities, ground-breaking research and more due to the generosity of customers at more than 170 GIANT and MARTIN’s stores.
In 2018, stores sold balloon and candle icons during two different campaigns that included coupons good for discounts on various Nabisco products. The $1 Miracle Balloons even featured the story of a child treated at each member hospital.
Funds raised help kids like Nick who has undergone several heart surgeries at Penn State Children’s Hospital.
If not for the funds raised at GIANT and MARTIN’s stores over the past 22 years, Nick’s hospital might not have had the cutting-edge specialists and life-saving equipment needed to help him live a full and happy life.
“We could not do what we do without the many GIANT and MARTIN’s customers who have helped provide hope and healing to the children in our communities who need it most,” said Ashley Flower, Manager of External Communications and Community Relations, GIANT Food Stores. “I’m also incredibly proud of and grateful for our associates, who are passionate about supporting CMN Hospitals throughout the year, ensuring kids in need get the best care possible.”
Employing more than 30,000 associates, GIANT Food Stores has raised more than $45 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1997.
