A New Chapter in UVA’s Fight against Pediatric Cancer

Mike Engel, MD, PhD has been named Chief of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology at UVA Children’s. Dr. Engel comes to UVA from the University of Utah School of Medicine and Primary Children’s Hospital.

In his first few weeks, Dr. Engel has made quite an impact already; especially with our Miracle Kids with whom he’s making fast friends! He is committed to our kids, families, and partners alike as he treats patients and furthers his research on leukemia.

Dr. Engel is developing a game-changing cancer therapy. His mission is to introduce new treatments for leukemia that are far less toxic than current available therapies, like chemotherapy.  We are excited to have him with us, taking on cancer right here in Charlottesville.
